A prayer vigil for Israel was held at the Murfreesboro Civic Plaza on Saturday. The event was organized by Concerned Women for America (CWA) and Young Women for America (YWA).
“There is no equivocation in this conflict. Israel was mercilessly attacked, and innocent men, women, and children were murdered, raped, and victimized,” Penny Nance, CEO and President of CWA said in a statement prior to the event. “We stand with Israel and against the demonic forces that would try to destroy its people. We recognize the special covenant that God made with the Jewish people, and we are instructed in the Bible to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. We are fulfilling our calling by holding this important prayer event.”
The prayer vigil featured speeches from many community and religious leaders in support of Israel amid Hamas’ terrorist attack on the nation October 7, which left around 1,200 Israelis dead.
Andrew Duffy, a field representative for U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), was one of the speakers at the event.
Speaking on Blackburn’s behalf, Duffy said, “Unfortunately, over the past few weeks, we’ve seen so many people show us who they really are. Far too many Americans have refused to speak out against the horrific terrorist attack that claimed so many lives.”
“One of the most important things that we can do right now is to remind the world who the real enemy is and let Hamas know that the United States stands beside Israel in this fight for their survival,” Duffy continued. “We also need moral clarity from our leaders…We’ve heard from the State Department that yes, Hamas is using civilians as human shields. We must pressure the State Department to continue to speak out against this. The time for looking the other way is over.”
“Please know that Senator Blackburn and our whole team are praying with you for Israeli leadership, for the brave Israeli Defense Forces, and for all the people of Israel,” Duffy added.
Another speaker led the crowd in a “No ceasefire” chant while others led attendees in song and prayer.
